General Motors has unveiled a bold electric hypercar concept from the Corvette line, developed entirely in the United Kingdom.
The project was led by Julian Thomson, renowned designer behind the Lotus Elise and former member of Jaguar Land Rover. Now heading a team based at GM’s new Advanced Design Center in Leamington Spa, Thomson is betting on an approach that revives the brand’s essence instead of following set formulas. According to him, the idea is to reinterpret Corvette’s legacy and project it into the future.
The model is part of a series of design studies created by GM teams around the world, focusing on exploring new possibilities for the Corvette brand. The initiative, as explained by GM’s global design chief Michael Simcoe, involves the creation of several hypercar concepts, which will be presented throughout the year.
The goal is to showcase the strength and versatility of the Corvette identity, even in unexpected formats such as a fully electric supercar.
With a futuristic look, the concept stands out by breaking away from Corvette’s traditional style while preserving historical references. One example is the split rear window detail, named Apex Vision, which echoes the classic 1960s Stingray.
For Thomson, projects like this reinforce consumer confidence in the brand’s potential and help build a community of enthusiasts around its evolution.
